Parish Priest: Fr Patrick Moroney, OMI
Fr Pat joined Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish as Parish Priest in 2014.
Born in Dublin in September 1939 – the youngest of a large family, he was educated in Terenure College, Dublin and Roscrea College Co, Tipperary.
In 1958, he entered the Oblate Novitiate (The Oblates) and studied for priesthood in the Oblates Seminaries in Ireland. He was ordained on the 20th December 1964.
Fr Pat arrived in Australia in 1965 and was appointed as an assistant in St Patrick’s Fremantle, followed by St John Vianney’s Melbourne.
In 1968, he was sent to the Oblate’s Mazenod College in Melbourne as one of the founding members. He dedicated the next 40 years in secondary education as teacher, counsellor and Rector at Oblates colleges in Australia. He served as Rector at Mazenod College on two occasions for 13 years and at Iona College in Brisbane for 6 years. In his early days at Mazenod, he also taught English and Religion. In the very early 1980s, after his return from Indonesia, he was sent to the United States where he qualified as a clinical psychologist and also took a post-graduate degree in developmental psychology. He was one of the first Student Counsellors/Psychologists in the Catholic School System in Melbourne.
Fr Pat also served the Oblates foreign missions in Indonesia for 6 years being one of the four founding Missionary Oblates to go there. He was elected Provincial of the Oblate Australian Province, 1994–2000. Prior to coming to Sefton, Fr Pat was Parish Priest at St John Vianney’s Mulgrave.
Fr Vincent McGillicuddy, OMI
Fr Vincent joined the Oblate Novitate at Sorento in Victoria in 1955. He completed studies at the Oblate Scholasticate in South Africa where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree and was subsequently sent to study in Rome where he obtained a degree in Sacred Theology. He was ordained in Rome on July 12, 1962.
On returning to Australia, Fr Vincent spent 24 years teaching mathematics, accounting and religion studies to senior students at two Oblate colleges: Mazenod College in Melbourne and Iona College in Brisbane. Fr Vincent also served a 19-year term as the Oblate Provincial Bursar, as well as serving as a priest in many of the Oblate parishes throughout Australia.
Currently serving at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Sefton. Fr Vincent has made it his special mission to minister to the sick, where his genuine compassion, humble and calm disposition, have endeared him to many.
Fr Eric Alleaume OMI
Fr Eric was born in Mauritius in 1963 and arrived in Australia in 1966. He grew up in Mulgrave, Victoria in the Parish of St. John Vianney’s where he went to Primary school. He later attended Mazenod College, Mulgrave for his secondary education and graduated in 1982. Following a year of study in Electrical Engineering he joined the Oblates in 1984.
He was ordained in 1991 and was posted to teach at Iona College, Brisbane. His next appointment was to Mazenod College, Perth where he taught and looked after the Boarders. 2005 saw him ministering as Assistant Priest in St. David’s Parish, Tea Tree Gully.
In 2006 he was appointed as the Personal Secretary of the Superior General of the Oblates and moved to Rome, where he worked until the end of 2013.
In 2014 he returned to Tea Tree Gully and worked as Assistant Priest until his transfer to Sefton at the beginning of 2017.
